My hair is naturally wavy/curly, medium length, but whenever I try to fix it into that cute, curly almost afro, it curls really tight and cute at the bottom, but not a the top. It is just plain straight at the top. All I do to fix it is wet it, put gel in it, and then tip my head upsidedown and scrunch it, while blowdrying it on the lowest setting. When you are curling it get smaller amounts in the curler..hold your curling iron away from the base.. for example as your curling in a clock wise direction before you get to the base(scalp section you are curling) gently pull up your curling iron and back to the left for lift. Then do as you are doing now except blow dry on low setting upside down a little (damp not completely dry) before you put gel in it.

i also have a large forehead. i got a straight-across bang hair cut, and it looks great. if you don't like high-maintenence, then this isnt for you. i should tell you that i have hair to spare, so to speak, so you might be self-concious when thinking about this hairstyle. however, you could always get extensions at your crown that would thicken your hair. good luck girl!

if i was you i would get sideswept bangs cut below your eyes to minimize the size of your forehead. That's how i have my hair. i also have razorcut layers about 3 or 4 inches below my shoulders. sorry don't have pictures. hope this helps.

I am white, male. I tried everything: conditioners for dry hair, shampoos for dry hair, even wet look today. but nothing helps to moistoure my very curly dry hair. for the first hour they were nice and moist but after two hours they dries. today I used wet look and after two hours, my hair were dry and that gel was also dry and then I couldnt comb my hair.

well first of all i know what you mean, my hair gets dry during the winter and it sucks! and second of all don`t shave your head!! you can try going to sally beauty supply and buy loreal natures therapy mega moisture shampoo and conditioner (the conditioner is in a tube not a regular conditioner thing) and when you get out of the shower use a leave in conditioner like aussie hair insurance leave in conditioner and then if your hair still isnt behaving try all the above steps plus use special effects silk drops (its a leave in serum that controls frizz, dryness and adds shine you can buy it at shop-rite and i think wal-mart has them) good luck!

oh yeah and if you dont want to go to sally beauty supply try using suave professionals healthy curls shampoo and conditioner, it moisturizes while enhancing your curls.

Just remember that what works for some people may not work for others. Each person has a different chemical make-up, I find that Pantine ans Suave work very well on my hair...but when I wand it so be VERY soft and silky...I use the Angelica shampoo %26amp; conditioner plus the biosilk. NO! on the highlights. lol. my friend and i wanted highlights and you pretty much are just like her, and hers came out really really really bad. i think that you shouldnt layer it too much since its thick... you should get long bangs (so they don't frizz because of the lost weight when you cut them) and keep the rest of your hair one length. try wearing it up (french twist!) to highlight your eyes.

I have wavy hair and in humid weather it goes crazy! Stay away from the hairdrier and the straightening iron if you can - they do damage your hair. If you cant do without them use a heat protectant spray. After you've washed your hair try not to brush it too much it will only get frizzier. A serum will help tone down the frizz but make sure you put it through your hair evenly or you'll end up looking oily. A decent shampoo and conditioner plus using a treatment regularly will help.

well my aunt owns her own haIr salon and she told me in deep situations like that after you get a perm you put a hot oil treatment in your hair which will help the perm form a wavy look.the longer you keep in the hot oil treatment the more deep the waves will become.i know this for a proven fact because i have went for that wavy look befor also and the out look was great so give it a try and e-mail me the turn out because depending on the texture of your hair you might have to use another resource for that look.so gGOOD LUCK!!!!

its best to use a large curling barrel. first of all, section your hair.

section the top part of your hair off. like a big rectangle at a top of your head. section it off. then do small sections on the side of your head. taking a small section of your hair on the side of your head, and just wrap the hair around the barrel, rather than twisting the actualy tong. do this through out the entire head.

spray the hair with a texture spray. i like to use sunsilks.

then undo the top section. dont curl this section or else it wont look really relaxed. it'll look really set.

(but! if you want to make it look more special occasion, take a smaller curling barrel tong and curl the top section of the hair BACK).

then run your fingers through your hair.

Biosilk is just a smoothing serum not a straightener. Its used to put proteins back in the hair. And help rebuild it. And you don't wash it out. You only use a small amount after shower is done.

stop using biosilk that may be the problem if it is use just really good regular conditioner and if you dont brush your hair threw when your drying it do it it helps it also choose a brush with hair dryer holes so you can put the dryer on the brush while you brush it threw.. Also you can buy a straighting product. also sometimes if you use different shampoos or conditioners your hair might change you might want to stick to your old stuff if there is a old shampoo/conditioner

Okay.....my curly hair sister... i feel your pain i to have to straighten my hair at least every other day...the best product that seems to work for my hair is Frizz-eases by John Frieda the purple bottle. you can buy this at any drugstore. You really have to spend a day and find out what method works best for you. Personally i put the product in my hair when i get out of the shower...i find that if i let my hair air dry and then go over it with a blow dryer right before its completely dry works for me. however find out if this works for you or maybe you'll only need it when your done straightening your hair. Also i recommend that you use either suave shampoo and conditioner I'm not sure of the name but its in a orange bottle or use pantene extra smooth....these work really well to relax your hair. You won't seen the change right away but in a few weeks you'll notice that its faster to straighten your hair...well i hope this works for you...let me know Good Luck

When I was 17 I allowed a friend to perm my hair so that I could wear it straight. I know now that was a big mistake and my hair has never been the same since. I have professionally gotten my hair permed in desperation because my hair is now half curly at the top and stringy at the bottom. I am really looking for a way to get my hair to either grow back the way it used to or as close to it as I can get so that I can wear it out naturally. My hair now is very dry and breaks off even when I get trims and go to the salon. I haven't gotten my hair permed for almost a year now but I am tired of getting it straightened all the time. I'm guessing you over colored or over permed your hair or both. Or possibly you've been swimming in chlorinated water all summer.

Cut all the dry bits off (sounds like you did that) Keep getting it trimmed until all your hair growth is new. Then, choose hair friendly products. If you color or perm your hair, use shampoo and conditioner that says "for color treated hair". When I used to perm my hair all the time, I used Permasoft.

Do a hot oil deep conditioning treatment every so often, according to how dry your hair is. I prefer VO5 hot oil treatment for that.

It could be due to being stressed. Are you going through some stressful times? Drink more water. Do you take luke warm showers? Try a warmer shower where the warm moisture in the air will help condition your hair. Also switch to conditioning shampoos and more intense conditioners.

Hair Wash

The best way of washing hair is with Aritha and Shikakai Powder. It does not have any chemicals or any other side effects. Aritha and Shikakai powder is available at any General stores or even a banyan shop.

Shampoos

Dry Hair - Egg, Herbal shampoo or any shampoo for dry hair.

Normal Hair - For normal hair fruit shampoos or henna shampoo is good.

Oily Hair - Lemon Shampoo

Hair Oil

Oil your hair at least once in a week. If you have dry hair then oil it twice a week. Hair oil gives the necessary moisturizers to your hair. Herbal hair oil provides you the necessary nourishment along with the moisturizers.

If you straighten then curl, the curls won't be as strong. They'll probably be loose and will go flat in maybe an hour.

sounds like too much fuss. maybe for an occasion, but not for just every day. if you have really curly hair, then why not just straighten it, wear it straight the first day, and then wear it in 2 buns over night so u get big loose waves/curls. by the 2nd day it wud b getting kinks and waves neway, so it would work with ur hair texture better. it wud b best to find a style u like wich works with ur hairs natural shape. it suits u best, and it wud b less damagin 4 ur hair.

the best would be to blowdry it out straight and smooth, but yeah, ironing first then curling will work too, they just might be a little limp. it would be bad to just go in with the big curling iron. they would be lumpy. make sure to use a gel or smoothing cream when you blow dry, then a light hold spray when you curl it up. you'll have big sexy curls/waves

You may be better off to just curl your hair instead of straightening first. It really just depends on your hair type though, "biracial" hair doesn't mean much because you could have a strong curl or you could be kinda straight or wavy. Test it out yourself and see which works for you. If you have really curly ethnic type hair, then you may need to lightly flat iron or press it first.

you shouldn't have colored your hair black and put highlights on it. you should color it to brown and put highlights there.

i suggest you bleach your hair to brown and put more bleach for the highlighted parts.

or maybe you can bleach the parts you got from your black hair. keep on bleachin! even though it's not good for you.

Try a hot oil treatment every now and then. Yes, if you can use a heat protectant for your hair (just go to CVS and pick out a major brand name) THe major brand names have the most money to spend on research and such so they usually have pretty good stuff. I have hair like yours.....I just use suave professionals and they work great. Go and google virtual hair styles and upload a picture of yourself. You can put different hairstyles on and try them out before you do it. Your haircut should be decided based on the shape of your face. If you have an oval face you can get away with just about anything except for really really long hair. Good luck!

I reccomend you to use Biosilk. It's a very good line of products that adds shine and moisture. An investment in the shampoo, the conditioner, and the smoothing serum would be a good idea. Even just getting the serum and applying it before straightening would make a positive difference in your hair.

You're like me excpet my hair is shorter but it is thick. I recommend Tressem茅. They hair products are really nice and have al sorts of ranges - such as volume,died hair care etc. I would opt for a normal version of Tressem茅. Also smother all of your hair with conditioner and it will become sleek and smooth!! Also if you hair gets incredibly knotty try the mason pearson hair brushes as they don't hurt and they take out knots really easily. As for hairstyles hairbands in white,red,black or navy with bows or little details are really nice with your hair out. A high ponytail or take two segmants of your hair from the front and take it to the back and tie it or clip it with a cute clip!

There are special products now that you can buy to use when using hair straighteners, they also protect the hair. As well as that you should use a good conditioner, there are so many in the shops to choose from.

Also if your really keem try putting olive oil on your hair say once every 2-3 weeks, beware don't use too much and be prepared to have to wash it out for 20 minutes or so, I know this really softens hair and puts back the moisture, it may sound like an old wives tale but it does work.

I have straightened my hair too - be careful because it can get very brittle, and start breaking unevenly, and then you look like a mangy poodle.

Use a ceramic straightener, a relaxer shampoo, some stuff called Frizz Ease, but don't make your hair too clean, it needs some essential oil to keep it from drying out.

There are shampoo and conditioner from Herbal Essences for straightened hair, one I think is called Dangerously Straight

I have naturally curly hair that is insanely thick. It's layered, and a little past my shoulders.

Normally, yes braids do tame down curly hair and give you natural looking waves. But you should experiment around, find some products that are curly-haired friendly, or try wearing your hair in a bun overnight - another great way to smooth hair and have tamed waves.

I suggest one braid (a french) if you want big waves.

If you want a beachy, touseled look - opt for pigtails in french braids.

Blow dry your hair straight as you can with a polymer type shine lotion and braid it into one large braid.. Leave it till morning. If it is that thick it won't be dry by morning if you braid it wet. also heat up the braid after you braid it and it should be smoother when you take it apart in the morning. Also don't brush it out . Just undo the braid and finger it loose.

Okay so heres the problem. My hair is medium length (little under my shoulder) and really angled. I've been straightening it regularly for a long time now, but my hair is naturally curly (big loose wave-y curls). I want to wear it curly but for whatever the reason the front of my hair curls insanely but the back just lies there. I can't tell if its because I've been straightening it for so long, or if its from my hair cut.

I'm not sure what angled is, so I really don't know if its because of that. =/ But your legnth is good for getting pretty curls. =) That's just a tad shorter than mine. My hair is in long layers though.

As for styling, use curl defining products. I use Sunsilk Frizz Ease 24/7 creme (green bottle), Tresseme Curl Care mousse (you can use Garnier Curl Construct for a heavier hold), and Aussie hairspray for hold.

Also, I use Garnier Fructis Curl %26amp; Shine shampoo, conditioner, and leave in. This helped a lot too.

Hello everyone! I am going to the rodeo this coming weekend (3-3-07) and I am tired of having the same hair style. I have dark blonde hair, 1 inch past my shoulder, layers, side bangs, and a long oval shaped face %26amp; big green eyes. My hair is naturally wavy. First of all we know heat is an ouch to hair. Sooo you can try baby oil for a couple hrs wash and then drench it with baby oil then make sure that you really rinse it out and be sure to use a great shampoo and cond. Also you might want to see a hair stylist to give you help you might also try to get a shampoo that has a sptriper in it to get the product out to give it lift. If you use the same brand of shampoo change it every other time.

First of all perming your hair ruins it and second, you said that it would never go back to he way it was before. If you like your hair right now then dont perm it becuz you dont know what the results will be after your perm grows out.

It is permanent, and you will have to grow it out if you want the curls back.

I use TRESemme mousse, LA Looks hair gel [sport cause it has a flexible hold], and Aquanet.

If you prefer it less "crunchy" you can use TRESemme hairspray instead. Or just try various products until you find what works for you best

If you want to go shoulder length, I would suggest long layers and maybe some layered bangs tapered to your face. Just make sure you tell your stylist that you want her to thin out the bottom of your layers with some razor scissors that way it will get rid of the poof at the bottom.

I would keep most of the length, and just add some layers. While you are still in the tub right after you rinse your conditioner out. Comb through your hair with a wide tooth comb then put some gel in your wet hair and start curling individual pieces around your finger until you have covered most of your hair. Flip your head over and scrunch it a little. Then don't touch it again until it is completely dry. Don't brush it until the next time you wash it. This should give you really shiny defined curls.

i have the same hair. it's nice when its wet but when it dry's it grows everywhere faster than a chia pet. if you mainly have your hair curly, try layering it, it flows easier and i think its easier to control. Also use products. Sunsilk has a line of products for like 3 or 4 bucks a bottle, they don't make your hair hard and stiff like gel does. If you don't like those try a moose.

You should ask a professional hairdresser what to do with your hair, but as for haircare be sure to only wash it every other day with a gentle shampoo to eliminate frizz(hair need some oil to protect it) and condition every day to smooth hair. Brush it while you're drying. Don't just point the hairdryer at it, brush from underneath, and follow the brush with the hairdryer on the other side, close to your hair. Do a section at a time.

Well blow dryers aren't reccommended for hair in the first place. It makes hair dry, and causes more split ends. Try not to dry it with a blow dryer, and naturally dry it by air. It won't frizz up at all.

yes, it will be easier to handle for camp too. just take some moose and you can let it air dry. be sure to tell the stylist that you want the big curls too! swimming will not make a difference for the perm, just condition it after shampoo, something you should do anyways!

In my experience, a new perm requires a lot more care than straight hair. If you're going on a mission trip, I'm assuming its overseas, and maybe not in the best of places to worry about hair care. I'd say wait til you get back, especially with hair as long as yours. You'll need to care for it daily by using a pick, and making sure it doesn't get tangled. I think you'll get more than you bargained for by doing it before you go.

What is the rest of your face shape? If you worry about your forehead, cover it up with bangs. They can be straight or inverted V shape (but not a sharp V - hard to explain). Have the hairdresser layer the sides all the way down to your chin. I think it will look cute. If you have a round face, you should wear longer bangs about chin length. Part your hair in the middle and it will cover most of your forehead. If you have an oval or heart shape face, any style will look good.

I have the same problem. I can't stand it, and I tried having regular 'ol bangs, but then they made me look like I was eight. Then I grew them out, and they made this freaky-looking wave that helped, but didn't look so great. So, instead, I got a low-bang cut that goes diagonally from one side of your forehead across and over the other eye, layering into the sides. Of course, you could have it just come over your fore head, not your eye. It works both ways. Layering's the key.

As for a big forehead, it is advisable to cut some bangs even if they are wispy. It shortens the forehead. I am not familiar with "MNC" but I wouldn't think wispy bangs would hurt.

even people with straight hair (naturally) can get bumps from putting their hair up...theirs just goes straight naturally again cos its made that way.

Okay, I know how you feel because that happens to me in my travel soccer team. Okay here's what you do:

You do your normal shampoo and condition wash.

Now instead of letting it dry by itself brush your hair out with a brush in one hand and in the other hand you have a blow dryer. like that hand ones'.[lol]. and keep doing it until your hair becomes nice and dry. but not too hott.

You can have a hair dresser put a relaxer on it if you want to do something drastic. Or, use anti-frizz products in your hair. Also, if the lump is caused by a rubber band, then take a wet brush through your hair in the spot and straighten it out. You can also use a stretch cloth band to wrap your hair up for practice (like in a bun or pony tail). Good luck. Naturally curly hair is a lucky thing to have.....but I understand wanting to be different from what you are given!

You should buy a hair relaxer. Not a perm which makes your hair curly. but a relaxer, which relaxes curly hair and makes it straight for over 2-6 months depending on your hair texture: ex. coarse and curly or soft and curly.

go to a beauty supply store or hair salon and ask which relaxer would be best for you.

If you don't want to use any chemicals please buy some ceramic flat irons, they work like a charm. will last for at least 3-5 days. don't get any cheap ones buy the kind that cost at least $35.00.
